Dialogai is an LGBTIQ+ association in Geneva. Its community activities aim to reduce isolation and build connections. Its services include Refuge Genève, which supports young LGBTIQ+ people experiencing difficulties and those close to them.[3][11][7][4]
Overview
Dialogai’s community health project approaches LGBTIQ+ health through conversation and social connections. It creates opportunities to develop a sense of belonging, recognise personal difficulties and find ways to address them. Helping people seek appropriate support when needed is part of the project’s purpose.[7]
Its services have separate roles. Refuge Genève provides a welcome, support and social assistance for young LGBTIQ+ people experiencing difficulties and those around them. Checkpoint Genève is an LGBTIQ+ health centre offering medical, nursing, psychological and social services. Checkpoint explicitly guarantees medical secrecy and confidentiality.[4][5]
Activities
Examples described by Dialogai include Sport’labo and discussion groups for men*. Developed with SportPourTous, Sport’labo combines group physical activity with psychological wellbeing. The discussion groups explore health, sex and relationships; examples of past topics include ageing and the effect of dating apps on personal and romantic relationships.[7]
The Regards croisés video project brings different LGBTQIA+ generations into conversation about their experiences and struggles for equal rights in Geneva. Four films are available online, covering trans, lesbian, intersex and gay perspectives. Accompanying information sheets explore the subjects raised in the films.[11]
Professionals and institutions can explore awareness sessions, training and organisational support. The catalogue covers allyship, welcoming young LGBTIQ+ people, workplace diversity and discrimination prevention. Taking part
The workshops and talks page describes activities as open to everyone and invites written proposals for new workshops. Dialogai also offers a newsletter for following its activities and forthcoming dates. It is sent no more than twelve times a year.[12][1]
Membership offers another way to participate in the association. Joining supports Dialogai’s work and gives members voting rights at general meetings.[1]
