habs Queer Basel connects queer people across the Basel region. Discussion groups, social gatherings and opportunities to contribute to projects provide different ways to meet others and become involved in the association.[1][2][3]

Overview

The association supports self-determination for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, intersex, asexual, aromantic, pansexual and non-binary people in the Basel region. It acts as a community contact point and helps people connect. Its non-commercial work relies on volunteers and membership contributions. Personal connections sit alongside collective work on projects and issues affecting the community.[1][3][2]

Groups and activities

The lesbian and gay ZischBar takes place on Tuesdays at the Kaserne. Its Meeting Point is for people who would like to meet others and have company when going out.[2]

Basel Trans Treff is for transitioning trans women and trans men of all ages. Other discussion groups bring together bi and pansexual people, and people on the aromantic and asexual spectrums, including those questioning whether these descriptions fit them. There are also meetings concerning gay fathers and those around them. Sapphic Connect Basel offers conversation for women* and non-binary people who love women, whether exclusively or alongside other genders.[2]

There are two distinct English-language groups. The Men+ Expat Group meets every second Friday for gay, bisexual, trans and other queer people aligned with a male identity. The All Queers English Speaking Group began in September 2026 and includes every gender identity, gender expression and sexual orientation. Its regular gatherings are intended for both recent arrivals and people who have lived in Basel for some time.[5]

The connect you discussion group brings people living with HIV together to share experiences and raise questions. It includes people diagnosed recently and those who have lived with HIV for years. Personal conversations and connections with others who understand similar circumstances are central to the group.[6]
