network brings together gay and bisexual men in Switzerland. Its eight regional groups provide opportunities to meet people, while the association works toward legal equality and social acceptance.[1][12]
Overview
network is for gay and bisexual men interested in contributing and taking responsibility. The association works for their equality before the law and acceptance within Swiss society. Its eight regional groups are Basel, Zurich, Central Switzerland, Berne, Lausanne, Geneva, Eastern Switzerland and Ticino. Membership offers opportunities to make connections, develop friendships and share ideas.[1][12][2]
Activities
Basel holds regular discussions and events covering LGBTI and social policy, health and insights into working life. Cultural outings include exhibitions, theatre, cinema and concerts. Its recurring traditions also include a reception for the new year, an outing in May, a summer celebration and an autumn walk.[3]
Zurich’s ApéroPlus series examines LGBTI issues across politics, the arts, business and society. Berne’s programme includes exhibition and theatre visits, evenings devoted to discussion or talks, and weekends spent hiking or skiing.[10][4]
Central Switzerland’s traditional programme includes a carnival celebration, a trip on Lake Lucerne, a hiking weekend and a Christmas gathering. Geneva uses events and alliances to promote workplace diversity and public awareness of sexual diversity. In Ticino, the group gathers for drinks and dinner in Lugano on alternate Tuesdays, with occasional meetings in Locarno or Ascona.[6][5][9]
Getting involved
Lausanne members can start projects of their own or take part in existing project groups. Its local network Young Professionals subgroup has a programme aimed at members aged 25–35. Zurich seeks members who support the association’s objectives and are willing to contribute occasionally to organising an event.[7][10]
