Around 260 stalls sell fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, flowers, clothing, fabrics and street food from herring to freshly made stroopwafels. Open Monday to Saturday, it offers a bustling, authentic atmosphere in the heart of De Pijp.
History
The market has run since 1905 and grew, in the then-new working-class district of De Pijp, into Amsterdam's best-known street market. For more than a century it has remained a fixture of city life and is regarded as one of the largest daily markets in Europe.
