What it is

History
The Dutch national museum traces back to a collection founded in The Hague in 1800 and moved to Amsterdam in 1808. The present neo-Gothic and Renaissance-style building, designed by architect Pierre Cuypers, opened in 1885 and reopened in 2013 after a decade-long renovation.
