Neighborhood

Sainte-Catherine / Dansaert

in Brussels, Belgium

Restaurants and mixed nightlife.

Where it is

In the north-west of the old town around the Place Sainte-Catherine and the Rue Antoine Dansaert, by the former harbour basin (Vismet).

Address: Rue T'Kint - T'Kintstraat, 1000 Brussels

What it is

Sainte-Catherine excels in fish and seafood restaurants, cafés and terraces along the Vismet, while Dansaert is the trendiest district for fashion, concept stores and cocktail bars. Together they form a lively, style-conscious quarter to go out in the city centre.

History

Sainte-Catherine was for centuries Brussels' fish market and port, still recalled by the Vismet basin and the many fish restaurants. The adjoining Rue Antoine Dansaert grew from the 1980s into a cradle of the Belgian fashion scene.
