What it is
The harbour is filled with colourful traditional "luzzu" boats, their bows painted with the Eye of Osiris, the village's signature image. On Sundays the waterfront hosts the famous fish market, on other days a tourist market, and the quay is lined with seafood restaurants.
History
The bay has been used as a harbour since antiquity, with Phoenicians, Carthaginians and Romans all leaving their mark. Marsaxlokk was separated from Żejtun in 1897 to become its own parish and village.
