Vienna Pride & Regenbogenparade

Austria· Vienna, Austria· Late May / June

Austria's biggest Pride: the Rainbow Parade circles Vienna's grand Ringstrasse, drawing hundreds of thousands past the imperial heart of the city.

About the event

Vienna Pride builds over roughly two weeks toward the Regenbogenparade (Rainbow Parade), a vast march that circles the Ringstrasse, the imperial boulevard that loops past the Parliament, the Rathaus and the State Opera. It is one of central Europe's largest LGBTQIA+ demonstrations, mixing political march and street festival, with hundreds of thousands filling the grand ring road on parade day.

The festival has a distinctly Viennese feel: monumental architecture as a backdrop, a Pride Village on Rathausplatz with stages, food and drink, and a programme that stretches from human-rights talks to all-out partying. The city's compact, walkable core makes it easy to fold the parade in with cafés, museums and a warm, welcoming queer scene.

Organised by HOSI Wien, the city's long-running gay initiative, the event pairs decades of activist credibility with a genuinely festive atmosphere. Dates, route and line-up vary year to year, so check the official site for the current edition.
