Cala d'Hort

in Ibiza, Spain

A sand-and-pebble cove with a direct view of Es Vedrà; one of the island's classic sunset spots.

Where it is

A cove on the south-west coast of Ibiza in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, directly facing the Es Vedrà rock.

Address: Cala Carbó

What it is

The sand-and-pebble beach with clear water is famous above all for its unobstructed view of Es Vedrà and is one of the island's best spots to watch the sunset. A few traditional fish restaurants line the cove. Its setting within the natural park keeps the surroundings calm and largely unspoilt.

History

The cove gives its name to, and lies at the heart of, the Cala d'Hort, Cap Llentrisca i Sa Talaia Natural Park, created in 2002, which also takes in the Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell islets. Fishing and farming traditionally shaped the surroundings, still visible today in the old fishermen's huts and rustic restaurants.
