Beach

Ses Salines (Playa de Las Salinas)

in Ibiza, Spain

The island's see-and-be-seen beach, next to Es Cavallet: golden sand, music beach bars and a cosmopolitan, gay-friendly crowd.

Where it is

In the south of Ibiza within the Ses Salines Natural Park, in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

Address: Sant Francesc de s'Estany

What it is

A long, white sandy beach with crystal-clear, shallow water, fringed by dunes and pines and lined with fashionable beach bars such as the Jockey Club where DJs play. The mood is lively and cosmopolitan; the north-west end is more family-oriented, the south-east more bohemian with some nudism. It is regarded as one of the island's most beautiful beaches.

History

The beach lies on the edge of the historic salt pans that shaped the island's economy since antiquity and today forms part of the natural park, protected since 2001. Over recent decades it has become one of Ibiza's best-known and most glamorous beaches, closely tied to its Balearic beat and beach-bar culture.
