Where it is
The shopping centre stands in the middle of the Playa del Inglés resort, between Avenida de Tirajana and Avenida de España, just a few kilometres from the dunes.
What it is
The multi-storey centre with open courtyards holds more than 200 shops and restaurants that feel family-friendly by day and turn into a buzzing nightlife strip of bars, discos and drag cabarets by night. It hosts Maspalomas Gay Pride and Fetish Week, making it a key gathering point for the queer community.
History
The Yumbo Centrum opened in 1982 and was extended in the following years, built in a former quarry. Over time it became the heart of Gran Canaria's gay nightlife and is now regarded as the world's best-known LGBTQ shopping centre.
