What it is
The collection shows grave finds, vases, jewellery and sculpture from Rheneia and Mykonos, ranging from the Geometric to the Hellenistic period. Its most famous piece is a large relief pithos made on Tinos depicting scenes from the fall of Troy.
History
The building was erected between 1899 and 1902 and is among the oldest purpose-built museums in the Cyclades and in Greece. It was created to house finds recovered in 1898 from the neighbouring island of Rheneia, the site of the ancient necropolis of Delos.
