A cathedral blending Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque that claims to hold the Holy Chalice; climb the 207 steps of the Miguelete tower for a 360° view.

Where it is

In the historic centre between the Plaza de la Virgen and the Plaza de la Reina; the Miguelete bell tower rises on the western side of the cathedral.

What it is

Inside, the cathedral keeps a chalice venerated by many as the Holy Grail, along with Renaissance paintings. Climbing the roughly 207 steps of the Miguelete rewards visitors with a panoramic view over the old town and the whole city.

History

The cathedral was begun in 1262 on the remains of a mosque and combines Romanesque, mainly Gothic and Baroque elements. The octagonal Miguelete bell tower (Micalet in Valencian) was built between 1381 and 1429 and is one of the city's best-known landmarks.
