Europe's big winter Pride: a week of pool parties, open-air shows and a beachfront Pride Walk on the dunes of Gran Canaria, when the rest of the continent is grey.

About the event

Winter Pride takes over Maspalomas, in the south of Gran Canaria, each November, turning one of Europe's most established gay-friendly resorts into a week-long Pride in shorts and swimwear. With temperatures around 23°C and the famous dunes a short walk from the venues, it is the off-season antidote to a Central European winter, drawing a crowd that organisers put at more than 40,000.

The rhythm is relaxed by day and theatrical by night: daytime pool parties such as Tropicana, a main stage with a different show every evening, plus boat cruises, sports excursions and the closing Pride Walk. It sits inside the wider gay village of Playa del Inglés and the Yumbo Centre, so the party spills naturally from official events into the surrounding bars and terraces.

Think of it as a destination Pride rather than a single parade: you book a hotel for the week, pace yourself between sun, pool and stage, and treat the whole resort as the festival ground.

What to do

  • Pride week in 23°C sun while Europe freezes
  • Daytime pool parties like Tropicana
  • Main-stage shows every night, free entry
  • The famous Maspalomas dunes next door
  • Closing Pride Walk along the seafront
Who it's for
For anyone who wants a sun-soaked Pride holiday in low season, mixing pool parties and shows with beach, dunes and a ready-made gay resort.
