What it is
Over a kilometre of fine sand, wide and usually calmer than La Malvarrosa, with hip bars, brunch spots and beach bars along the promenade. Popular with the LGBTQ+ scene and considered one of Valencia's most gay-friendly beaches.
History
The Patacona is the natural continuation of La Malvarrosa beyond the city limit and has grown over recent decades from a quiet suburban beach into a trendy spot with modern beach venues. It is now seen as a more relaxed alternative to the busier city beach.
