Older LGBTIQ People: Visibility in Later Life

The generation that fought for queer rights in the 1970s and 80s is now reaching retirement age. With them, a long-overlooked topic moves into focus: growing older as a queer person.
Many fear having to hide their identity again in care facilities. Organisations are therefore advocating for sensitised care and queer-friendly housing.
First pilot projects with shared housing for older LGBTIQ people have begun. Demand far exceeds supply.
