Seafront
in Brighton, United Kingdom
Promenade, beach and Pride parade.
Where it is
The seafront runs the full length of Brighton's coast, from the Hove Lawns in the west past the Palace Pier to the marina in the east.
Address: 149 Norfolk Street, BN1 2PP Brighton
What it is
The promenade links beaches, bars, galleries and shops under the arches, the pier, the aquarium and the observation tower into one continuous seaside walk. It is the pulsing centre of beach life and especially busy on summer days and during Pride.
History
As Brighton rose as a fashionable seaside resort from the late 18th century, the present promenade took shape along the coast, with its Regency terraces, arches and piers. The West Pier of 1866 fell into ruin and burned in 2003, and its skeleton still marks the skyline beside the i360.
