The museum occupies the striking Urbis building at Cathedral Gardens in the north of the city centre, a few minutes' walk from Manchester Victoria station.

What it is

Across several floors the museum displays trophies, historic shirts and memorabilia alongside interactive stations where visitors can test their own football skills. It is open daily and a must for football fans. General entry is free, though some experiences may charge.

History

The National Football Museum first opened in Preston in 2001 and relocated to Manchester's glass Urbis building in 2012. It holds the world's greatest football collection, with over 140,000 items, including official FIFA exhibits.
