Hôtel Negresco

in Nice, France

The legendary Belle Époque palace hotel with its pink dome on the Promenade is a listed landmark of the Riviera.

Where it is

This palace hotel stands directly on the Promenade des Anglais (37 Promenade des Anglais), facing the Baie des Anges.

Address: Rue du Commandant Berretta, 06000 Nice

What it is

The Negresco is the luxurious Belle Époque icon of Nice, crowned by its pink dome. Its Salon Royal with a vast Baccarat chandelier and an art collection spanning the 17th century to modern times make it a living museum; even non-guests can take in the bar or the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Chantecler.

History

The hotel was built by Henri Negresco and opened on 8 January 1913, with the architect Édouard Niermans involved in its design. In 1957 it passed to the Augier family, and Madame Jeanne Augier shaped it with her celebrated art collection; in 2003 it was listed as a national historic monument.
