What it is
The square's signature feature is a vast undulating metal pergola ("Brise Soleil") evoking the waves of the sea and creating a shifting play of light. Ringed by terraces, shops and sculptures, the plaza is a lively meeting point and the stage for many events, including the December Christmas market.
History
Where the square now stands there was once a dual-carriageway through-road. As part of a major redevelopment completed in 2018, designed by architect Salvador Moreno Peralta, the area was turned into a pedestrian space.
