Address: 1a Panoramastraße, 10178 Berlin
What it is
The observation deck at about 203 metres offers a 360-degree view across all of Berlin, and one floor above the Sphere restaurant rotates once an hour. Because of the crowds it pays to book timed tickets online in advance.
History
The tower was built from 1965 to 1969 by the GDR as a prestige technical project and opened on 3 October 1969. A landmark of East Berlin, it still defines the city's skyline, and the reflection on its sphere has long been nicknamed the "Pope's Revenge".
