Teufelssee (Grunewald)
in Berlin, Germany
Berlin's gay FKK lake in the middle of the Grunewald forest; no entry fee, no closing time, livelier the later the afternoon gets.
Where it is
Teufelssee lies in the middle of the Grunewald forest in south-west Berlin, not far from Grunewald S-Bahn station in the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district.
Address: Grunewald, Berlin
What it is
On the grassy western meadow many visitors sunbathe and swim nude, in a relaxed, mixed and queer-friendly atmosphere. The lake is reached only by forest paths, making it a quiet nature-bathing spot, though it can get crowded on summer weekends.
History
This small glacial lake in the Grunewald has been known for decades as a meeting point for Berlin's naturist (FKK) and gay scenes and is considered the city's best-known gay bathing lake. Free body culture (FKK) has a long tradition in Berlin, and Teufelssee became an established gathering spot for the community early on.
