Mauerpark Flohmarkt

in Berlin, Germany

Sunday flea market in Prenzlauer Berg with outdoor karaoke in the amphitheatre; a classic Berlin weekend ritual.

Where it is

The flea market takes place on the western edge of Mauerpark on Bernauer Straße, on the border between Prenzlauer Berg and Wedding.

Address: Bernauer Straße, 13355 Berlin

What it is

Every Sunday hundreds of stalls offer vintage fashion, vinyl, furniture, crafts and street food, and tens of thousands of people drift through the aisles. The highlight is the open-air karaoke in the amphitheatre in the afternoon, which fills the park with a colourful, queer-friendly crowd.

History

Mauerpark was created on the former death strip of the Berlin Wall between Prenzlauer Berg and Wedding and turned into a green space after the Wall fell. The Sunday flea market took hold in the 2000s, and since 2009 Joe Hatchiban has brought his Bearpit Karaoke to the park's amphitheatre every Sunday.
