What it is
Across the two halls and the square are around 60 stalls selling fresh fruit and vegetables, fish, cheese, spices and specialities from around the world. Popular bites include Coffee Collective for coffee or Hija de Sanchez for Mexican tacos. It is the perfect spot for a snack, a coffee or shopping for delicacies.
History
The modern market opened on 2 September 2011 on the site of the city's former vegetable market (Grøntorvet). The two glass-and-steel halls were designed by architect Hans Peter Hagens. Since then Torvehallerne has become one of the city's most popular gathering points for food lovers.
