What it is
The ticketed monumental zone holds Gaudí's famous mosaic salamander, the curving trencadís bench and the hall of columns. The upper terrace offers one of the finest panoramic views over Barcelona, and tickets must be booked online in advance.
History
Antoni Gaudí designed the park between 1900 and 1914 for the industrialist Eusebi Güell, originally as an upscale housing estate that was never completed. The grounds opened as a public park in 1926 and have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1984.
