What it is
The museum is one of the most monumental examples of Noucentisme and presents a route from the 10th century to early-20th-century art. Highlights are its Romanesque and Gothic works, the Vila de Sitges collection and the ornate halls overlooking the Mediterranean.
History
The Maricel complex was built between 1910 and 1918 by the engineer and artist Miquel Utrillo for the American magnate Charles Deering, who housed his collection of Hispanic art there. It opened as a museum in 1970 and reopened in 2015 after a major refurbishment.
