Beach
Platja de l'Home Mort
in Sitges, Spain
A secluded nude beach 30–45 minutes along the coastal path beyond the cliffs; a gay men's gathering spot for decades.
Where it is
This secluded cove lies in the Garraf massif west of Sitges and can only be reached on foot, about 30 minutes along the coast and railway line from the centre.
Address: Sitges
What it is
Around 200 metres long, the cove has pebbles rather than fine sand, clear water and dramatic cliff scenery; it is largely naturist and gay. With almost no facilities and a path that runs close to the railway in places, bring water, shade and sturdy shoes.
History
The Platja de l'Home Mort is regarded as one of the oldest gay and naturist beaches in Europe, frequented by the community since the 1930s. Its remoteness made it an early free and discreet meeting place.
