What it is
Kungsholmen is a relaxed, liveable residential district with waterfront promenades, cafés and green spaces such as Rålambshov Park. The Norr Mälarstrand, with its terraces and moored boats, offers fine views of the City Hall and Södermalm and is especially popular at sunset.
History
Long an island of workshops and industry, Kungsholmen gained its landmark with the City Hall (1923). The broad Norr Mälarstrand waterfront promenade was created in the 1930s as part of Stockholm's functionalist urban planning.
