Khur Pride 2026: «flurir ensemen» — queer Pride in Switzerland's oldest city

Khur Pride returns to Chur on Saturday, 29 August 2026, with the motto «flurir ensemen» — a deliberately multilingual signal in the capital of the canton of Graubünden. The expression comes from Romansh, one of Switzerland's four national languages, and means «to bloom together». The image of the flower runs through the whole concept: the organisers connect the alpine rose, which withstands extreme mountain conditions, with queer visibility and collective strength.
The march passes through Chur's medieval old town — one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Switzerland — before the programme moves into the city park. There, speakers, stage acts, concerts and community encounters are planned. Entry is free. An awareness team will be present throughout the event, and free earplugs are available at the info stand. Speeches will be made available to read online afterwards.
Khur Pride has a clear commitment to inclusion: the organisation works with open professional social workers to ensure the event remains a safer space. The format combines public visibility and political presence with genuine community work — in a region where queer life is less visible than in major urban centres like Zurich or Geneva.
For Queer Switzerland, Chur matters beyond its size. The city hub lists local resources; Khur Pride is the most visible queer event in Graubünden and eastern Switzerland. For those planning to attend: Chur is around 1h15 by direct train from Zurich.
