Lausanne Pride 2026: up to 23,000 people celebrate the return of the Romandie Pride

On 27 June 2026, Lausanne hosted the first regional Pride in twenty years. Estimates from police and organisers put participation between 17,000 and 23,000 people — a clear statement that visibility and engagement are alive in Romandie.
The procession started at Pont Bessières early in the afternoon and moved along Rue Saint-Martin through the city centre toward Parc de Milan, where the Pride Village with concerts and activities had been running since Friday. The motto 'Le droit d'être soi' — the right to be oneself — set the political tone: rights, recognition and social belonging were at the heart of the march's demands.
Lausanne Pride 2026 is the first edition of the Romandie Pride in the Vaud capital since the last Lausanne Pride in 2006. Two decades away give the return a symbolic weight. At a time when queer rights are under pressure in parts of Europe and Switzerland, a turnout of up to 23,000 in a medium-sized Swiss city is a remarkable sign.
For the community in French-speaking Switzerland, this success also signals that Lausanne remains a hub. VoQueer, lestime, Association Lilith, Dialogai Geneva and other organisations are active in Romandie and benefit from this visibility. Pride is not only a day of celebration; it is also an impulse for the community year-round: workshops, counselling, cultural events and political work all gain momentum from this attention.
Next Swiss Pride dates: Bern Pride (25 July), Pride Zentralschweiz (22 August), Khur Pride Chur (29 August), Pride Aargau (5 September).
